Dr. Margarita Brida completed her specialization in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, as well as her doctoral postgraduate studies, at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb, Croatia. She undertook a two-year clinical and research fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) at the University Hospital Münster, Germany, and the Royal Brompton Hospital, London. She also holds a degree from Harvard University in Global Clinical Scholars Research, Boston.

Dr. Brida is an Assistant Professor at the University of Rijeka, Croatia, a consultant cardiologist, and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Imperial College London, UK. She currently serves as Chair of the ESC Working Group on ACHD (2024–2026), the ESC ACHD Study Group for Central and South-Eastern Europe and leads the ESC Scientific Documents Committee. Additionally, she is an Associate Editor for the European Heart Journal and deputy editor of International Journal of Cardiology Congenital Heart Disease. Dr. Brida has a leading role in the clinical and academic development of ACHD in Central and South-Eastern Europe and is the founder and director of the international ACHD Academy.
