Professor Dr. Boulos Asfour is a clinically and scientifically active pediatric heart surgeon with more than 230 publications and 2000 citations . After receiving his medical education at University of Giessen he started postgraduate training in cardiac and pediatric cardiac surgery at University of Muenster, Germany, thereafter fellowships at The Children’s Hospital Boston and Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. In 2002 he became deputy chief at the German Pediatric Heart Center in Sankt Augustin and became Chief Surgeon in 2005 together with Viktor Hraska. Since 2019 he was appointed as Director of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at the University Hospital Bonn (UKB). Boulos is a member of numerous organizations, including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the European Association for Cardio-thoracic Surgery, the European Congenital Heart Surgeons Association, the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery, the German Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, the German Society of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, the German Competenz Network for congenital heart defects.
